Our scheduled net control had an unexpected issue late this evening once agaon so unfortunately we have had to again cancel the net. We will attempt to resume the net again on Saturday September 19th 2026 at 8 PM ET.

We have yet to put out a more formal notice as we informally activated for Hurricane Lowell’s impacts to Western Hawaii last week and we will do so some time this upcoming week but as stated previously, we could use additional net controls for both our weekly net and net activations. Some of our regular net controls and net management team members are experience life changes and other life related items affecting their schedules more so than normal and in some cases last minute and out of their control. If you are interested in being a net control, please message me off list and we can provide details. Many thanks to all!

Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall at 325 PM EDT/225 PM CDT Tuesday 9/1/26 near Johnson Bayou Louisiana. The landfall ends any threat of Edouard becoming a hurricane and the Hurricane Watch for parts of the Gulf Coast is discontinued. Informal monitoring of the *WX_TALK* Echolink conference node: 7203/IRLP 9219 reflector system began shortly after 12 PM EDT by KC5FM-Lloyd and AE4WX-Mark for any calls for reports or issues. This informal monitoring will end at 5 PM EDT Tuesday 9/1/26 with Edouard having made landfall and no formal VoIP Hurricane Net activation is needed. Wind gusts as high as 71 MPH in Texas Point, TX have been reported. Port Arthur, TX recently had a wind gust to 54 MPH. These kind of winds will continue for a few hours on portions of the Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana coast line. Tropical Storm Edouard formed over the Northern Gulf of America (Mexico) Monday and has the potential to reach hurricane strength prior to landfall on the Northwest Gulf Coast between Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. A Hurricane Watch is posted from High Island to Cameron Louisiana with a Tropical Storm Warning from Port Bolivar to the Vermilion/Iberia Parish line. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect from High Island to the Vermilion/Iberia Parish line. If Edouard continues to strengthen through the day as expected, a short fused, short duration Hurricane Net activation is likely for surface reports in and around the affected area of Edouard. This would likely be during the course of Tuesday late PM/Evening into early Wednesday AM.
