Tropical Storm Bill Forms in the Western Gulf of Mexico

Hello to all…

Tropical Storm Bill has formed in the Western Gulf of Mexico. Tropical Storm Warnings are now in effect from Baffin Bay to High Island Texas. Tropical Storm conditions are likely in the Tropical Storm Warning area. Bill has maximum sustained winds of 50 MPH and could increase to a 60 MPH tropical storm. While pockets of wind damage, coastal storm surge flooding and the potential for severe weather in Texas, Eastern Louisiana and Western Arkansas are possible concerns, the main concern is additional heavy rainfall in an area soaked by earlier heavy rain in May and early June particularly in Texas and Eastern Louisiana. Advisories for Tropical Storm Bill can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site as well as on our Facebook and Twitter feeds. Advisories can also be seen on the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

At this time, Bill is expected to remain below hurricane strength and VoIP Hurricane Net activation appears unlikely. Nonetheless, the VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will closely monitor the progress of Bill. Local and regional SKYWARN Nets particularly in the Tropical Storm Warning area and points inland may activate particularly for the heavy rainfall and the flood to flash flood threat as well as the strong to damaging winds along the coast and inland, any isolated tornado threat and any coastal storm surge flooding issues. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
