Atlantic Tropical Update – Sunday 9/14/14 – 200 PM EDT – Hurricane Edouard Becomes Fourth Hurricane of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season

Hello to all..

Tropical Storm Edouard has now intensified into the fourth hurricane of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Hurricane Edouard is expected to continue to intensify and could become a major hurricane in the next couple of days but it is no threat to the US or any other land area at this time as it will stay out in the open Atlantic as a threat to shipping interests only. Advisories on Hurricane Edouard can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site, off of our Facebook and Twitter feeds or via the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

The other areas of disturbed weather mentioned in the Saturday 9/13/14 Atlantic Tropical Update are no longer considered a threat for tropical cyclone formation. The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will continue to monitor the Atlantic Tropics. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!

Tropical Storm Edouard and Atlantic Tropical Update – Saturday 9/13/14 – 200 PM EDT/1800 UTC

Hello to all..

We are approaching the peak of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Over the past few days, Tropical Storm Edouard formed in the open Atlantic with maximum sustained winds of 50 MPH. Edouard is expected to intensify into a hurricane but will remain out in the open Atlantic and a threat only to shipping interests at this time. Advisory information on Edouard can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site, via our Facebook and Twitter feeds, or at the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

An area of low pressure formed over the Bahamas several days ago and has tracked into the Southeast Gulf of Mexico. Upper level winds remain unfavorable for development as the system tracks westward across the Gulf of Mexico and has a low chance, 10%, of development. Shower activity with a tropical wave located southwest of the Cape Verde Islands has diminished with development unlikely as it moves either west or west-northwest at 10 MPH.

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Edouard and other developments in the Atlantic Tropics. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!

Hello to all..

Tropical Depression (TD) 5 becomes Tropical Storm Dolly in the Bay of Campeche with maximum sustained winds of 45 MPH and a minimum central pressure of 1005 Millibars. Tropical Depression (TD) 5 Forms in the Bay of Campeche

Hello to all..

The area of disturbed weather that was emerging from the Yucatan Peninsula into the Bay of Campeche has continued to get better organized and is now a Tropical Depression and is classified as Tropical Depression (TD) 5 with maximum sustained winds of 30 MPH. If TD 5 strengthens into a tropical storm as expected, it will be named Dolly. A tropical storm warning is in effect from Tuxpan to La Pesca Mexico.

Atlantic Tropical Update – Monday 9/1/14 800 AM EDT/1200 UTC

Hello to all..

The latest Atlantic Tropical update from the National Hurricane Center has a broad area of low pressure that is emerging off the Yucatan Peninsula into the eastern part of the Bay of Campeche. Environmental conditions appear to be favorable for development and this system could become a tropical depression in the next day or two as it moves west-northwestward at 10 MPH and an Air Force reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system today if necessary. The main threat with the system currently is heavy rainfall for Southweast Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula today through Tuesday and mainland Mexico for later Tuesday into Wednesday. The system has a high chance of development. The latest Tropical Weather Outlook can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site and on our Facebook and Twitter voipwxnet feeds. It can also be seen at the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team is closely monitoring the progress of this system. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
