VoIP SKYWARN/Hurricane Prep Net Moves to Weekly Beginning This Saturday

Hello to all…

The VoIP SKYWARN/Hurricane Prep Net moves to weekly beginning with the net this Saturday June 7th as we are now into the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season. We welcome folks to participate in the net on a weekly basis. The net will be weekly through Saturday December 6th, 2008 and then will move back to a monthly basis. We will have a training topic on the first net of each month.

For tonight’s net, we will review a prior presentation on Hurricane Preparedness with some modifications. The presentation will be given by Rob Macedo-KD1CY. There is a threat of severe weather in the New England area late Saturday Afternoon and Saturday Evening and if this threat materializes, tonight’s presentation will be moved to the next weekly net on Saturday June 14th.

We hope many coastal stations will participate in tonight’s net and hear the presentation or listen to it via the web site once the presentation and audio recording is archived. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!

Tropical Storm Arthur Forms in the Atlantic/Caribbean

Hello to all….

Tropical Storm Arthur formed in the Atlantic/Caribbean area at 1 PM EDT Saturday May 31st with maximum sustained winds of 40 MPH. Arthur formed from the remnants of Pacific Tropical Storm Alma and is making its way across the Yucatan coast. At this time, Arthur’s close proximity to land should preclude further significant development, however, Arthur will be closely monitored by the VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team.

Arthur Advisories can be seen under the Main Menu of the VoIP Hurricane Net web site at http://www.voipwx.net and clicking Atlantic Tropical Products. A drop down menu of Arthur advisory links will be given below the Atlantic Tropical Products link where you can gather the latest information.

Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
