Tropcial Storm Gert Intensifies into Hurricane Gert – No Threat to Land Except for High Surf and Rip Currents Over the US Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Coastline

Hello to all…

Tropical Storm Gert has intensified into Hurricane Gert, the second hurricane of the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season, to the east of the US East Coast. Gert is still expected to track slowly northward and then accelerate Northeast between the US East Coast and Bermuda and is currently expected to be a threat only to shipping interests except for high surf and rip currents along the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast US Coast. Advisories on Gert can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site, via the voipwxnet Facebook and Twitter feeds and via the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

Given the offshore track, VoIP Hurricane Net activation for this system is not expected. Nonetheless, the VoIP Hurricane Net management team will closely monitor the progress of this system and other systems in the tropics as they develop. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
