Tropical Storm Karen Forms in the Gulf of Mexico – Hurricane/Tropical Storm Watches Issued for Northern US Gulf Coast

Hello to all..

Tropical Storm Karen has formed in the Southern Gulf of Mexico and is already a 65 MPH Tropical Storm. Hurricane Watches are posted from Grand Isle Louisiana to Indian Pass Florida with Tropical Storm Watches posted for the Metropolitan New Orleans area to east of Morgan City Louisiana. Karen may reach hurricane strength later today or Friday and may be at hurricane strength at landfall. Advisories on Tropical Storm Karen are posted on the main menu of the VoIP Hurricane web site and can also be seen at the National Hurricane Center web site at the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will monitor the progress of Karen closely and will advise of potential activation plans for Karen when we have a better idea of the track and intensity of Karen. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
