Tropical Depression (TD) 8 Forms in the Atlantic – No Threat to Land

Tropical Depression (TD) 8 has formed in the Atlantic northeast of the Bahamas. TD 8 is expected to gradually intensify into a tropical storm and if it does as expected, it will be named Gert. TD 8 is expected to track Northwest then North and then Northeast between the US East Coast and Bermuda and is currently expected to be a threat only to shipping interests. Given the offshore track, VoIP Hurricane Net activation for this system is not expected. Nonetheless, the VoIP Hurricane Net management team will closely monitor the progress of this system and other systems in the tropics as they develop.
