VoIP Hurricane Prep Net Report – Saturday November 23rd, 2013

The following stations checked into the VoIP Skywarn Hurricane Prep Net for Nov. 23, 2013. Stations listed may not necessarily be in the order that they checked into the net. Callsign data is taken from the HamData Dot Com website.

Note that just connecting to the Weather Talk Conference Server or an IRLP node (either directly or through a repeater) does NOT qualify as a checkin to the net.

You must be acknowledged by Net Control either via voice, or textbox, to get on the log. If you are not acknowledged, your voice or textbox checkin did NOT get through, and you will have to recheck.

Note that all hyperlinks are spelled out in the message, due to display issues with Facebook.

A few other notes:

1) An Online Skywarn Spotter Training Course is available if your area National Weather Service (NWS) Office is not currently offering Skywarn Storm Spotter Training classes. The course takes approximately 2 hours to complete, and helpful links are on this page. This course link is accepted by most NWS Offices, in lieu of attending an “in person” class. Type in “Online Storm Spotter Training Course” in your favorite search engine, and look for the words MetEd in the link, then click on it for more information.

2) Next Saturday, November 30, 2013…is the final regular “weekly net”, and it will meet at 8pm Eastern, 7pm Central, 6pm Mountain, 5pm Pacific, 0100 UTC.

The following Saturday, December 7, 2013 net, 2 weeks from tonight, will meet ONE HOUR EARLIER…following Skywarn Recognition Day activities. That net will meet at 7pm Eastern, 6pm Central, 5pm Mountain, and 4pm Pacific Time. The net will go back to “regular time” (8pm Eastern, 7pm Central, 6pm Mountain, 5pm Pacific) in January.

Also, note that starting in December, the net will meet on the first Saturday of the month ONLY, until hurricane season resumes on June 1, 2014. In short, if you show up on any other Saturday than the first one, from December through May, you’ll be the only one(s) here!!

3) More information on Skywarn Recognition Day is at hamradio dot noaa dot gov — you can also search for “Skywarn Recognition Day” with your favorite search engine, and click on the desired link. This years event is from 0000 UTC to 2400 UTC Dec. 7, 2013 — or 7pm Eastern Time Dec. 6, 2013 to 7pm Eastern Time Dec. 7, 2013.

4) More information on the group is at the website at www dot voipwx dot net — and on Facebook at www dot facebook dot com slash voipwxnet
