Tropical Storm Earl Update and Possible Net Activation Late Sunday Night or Monday Morning

Tropical Storm Earl poses a threat to the Caribbean islands late tonight and Monday. At this time, Earl is expected to intensify into a hurricane later today and on its current track the hurricane force conditions are expected to be just offshore of the islands but a slight deviation south would bring the hurricane force conditions to the islands. This could prompt VoIP Hurricane Net activation for Earl some time late tonight or Monday Morning unless it pulls further north away from the islands.
Thereafter, Earl is expected to pull northwestward and then northward a few hundred miles off the US East Coast and then tracking northeast causing a ‘glancing blow’ of tropical storm force conditions to Southeastern New England. Other model guidance such as the reliable European Model brings Earl closer to the coast with a more direct hit on Southern New England. This will be closely monitored. Low-level preparations and situational awareness has already commenced in Southern New England regarding Earl and has been noted in the NWS Taunton Massachusetts Hazardous Weather Outlook.
