Happy Thanksgiving! – SRD’25 Cancellation – VoIP Hurricane Net Schedule for the Rest of 2025
Hello to all…
On behalf of the VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team, we wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to all US based Amateur Radio Operators! We hope everyone has a great holiday weekend with friends, family and hopefully some time on Amateur Radio.
By now, everyone should be aware that the SKYWARN Recognition Day, SRD’25, has been cancelled at a national level. Some local NWS offices may choose to do a local event for SRD’25 at their discretion. While this is disappointing, its understandable due to the government shutdown and the residual impacts it has on planning and on the staff of the agency. As a member of the national committee for SRD, we are looking at making the event bigger and better than ever for 2026. Please see the ARRL web site post on SRD 2025 cancellation:

Regarding the VoIP Hurricane Prep Net Schedule for the rest of 2025, we will have our prep net for Saturday 11/22/25 as scheduled. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we will cancel the Saturday 11/29/25 net. Our final net for 2025 will remain on Saturday 12/6/25 at 7 PM ET, one hour earlier than the scheduled time, despite SRD’2025 being cancelled, as this is a one-off that the event is cancelled for this year. The December net will mark the VoIP Hurricane Prep Net shifting to monthly for the non-hurricane season months of December thru May.
Again, we hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
