Subtropical Storm Beryl Update – 800 AM EDT/1200 UTC Saturday 5/26/12

Hello to all..

Late Friday Night, Subtropical Storm Beryl formed in the Tropical Atlantic off the coast of the Carolinas. Subtropical storm Beryl is expected to move southwest and affect portions of the Northeast Florida, Southeast Georgia and South Carolina coastline during the Memorial Day weekend. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from the Volusia/Brevard county line Florida to Edisto Beach South Carolina. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for north of Edisto Beach to South Santee River South Carolina. Beryl is expected to make the transition to a fully tropical storm with some slight strengthening but is expected to remain below hurricane strength at this time. Therefore, no VoIP Hurricane Net activation or activation of WX4NHC is expected at this time but Beryl will be monitored throughout the weekend in case the forecast changes.

Advisories on Beryl can be seen on the voipwx.net web site off the Main Menu under Atlantic Tropical Products. Advisory information on Beryl can also be seen on the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

As an aside, in the Eastern Pacific, Bud is now a Tropical Depression. He is likely to degenerate into a remnant low some time today.

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will closely monitor Beryl and the rest of the tropics. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
