VoIP Hurricane Net Activation Secured on Monday 7/1/24 at 500 PM EDT

Hello to all…

The VoIP Hurricane Net activation was secured at 500 PM EDT Monday 7/1/24. Major Hurricane Beryl intensified into an intense Category-4 Hurricane as it swept through the Grenadines, Grenada and Petit Martinique with impacts also into St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago. Some of the net reports were utilized in the 11 AM Monday 7/1/24 NHC Advisory. They included structural damage reports to buildings with roofs blown off, trees/wires/poles down, storm surge and heavy rainfall related flooding. A complete list of reports captured from Amateur Radio Operators, online weather stations and social media can be seen at the following link:

Beryl may pass far enough south of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands where the next net activation may not be until the end of the week for the Yucatan Peninsula but this will bear close monitoring. Beryl is expected to weaken some over the Caribbean Sea but is expected to remain a hurricane throughout its track to the Yucatan Peninsula coast. The VoIP Hurricane Net Management will continue to closely monitor the progress of Beryl. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
