VoIP Hurricane Net Activation Plans for Hurricane Isaias Update As of Saturday 8/1/20 – 1030 AM EDT
Hello to all…
Hurricane Isaias is an 85 MPH Category-1 hurricane currently affecting the Bahama islands as of the 8 AM EDT – Saturday 7/31/20 advisory. The latest forecast track brings Isaias near the coast of Florida but no longer making landfall there and then weakens Isaias to a strong tropical storm affecting the Carolinas on Monday and the Mid-Atlantic states, New York and New England Tuesday into Wednesday Morning. The VoIP Hurricane Net activation plans remain in flux due to the track changes that have occurred here. It no longer appears necessary to formally activate the net for Saturday but its possible an activation will be needed Sunday. VoIP Hurricane Net Management team members will monitor the *WX_TALK* Echolink conference node: 7203/IRLP 9219 system over the course of the day today for any questions and updates out of Florida and update possible activation plans for Sunday later this Saturday Afternoon and evening after conferring with coordinators from WX4NHC, the Amateur Radio station at the National Hurricane Center and seeing later forecast tracks and guidance from the National Hurricane Center. Future activation beyond this weekend will be determined based on the track, speed and intensity of Isaias.
The weekly VoIP Hurricane Prep Net for this Saturday Evening 8/1/20 has been cancelled due to the potential for activation of Isaias. Advisories on Isaias can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site, via our voipwxnet social media feeds on Facebook and Twitter and at the National Hurricane Center web site at the following link:
The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will update Hurricane Isaias activation plans later Saturday Afternoon or Evening and continue to closely monitor the progress of Isaias. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
