..VoIP Hurricane Net to activate formally at 4 PM EDT/2000 UTC Thursday September 2nd, 2010 for Impact of Hurricane Earl over Eastern North Carolina, Outer Banks of North Carolina, Eastern Virginia and the Delmarva peninsula. Activation is expected to last through early Friday Morning potentially with another activation possible over the New England states Friday Afternoon through Saturday Morning. Hurricane Earl is an extremely powerful Category IV hurricane and is expected to stay a major hurricane as it makes a close pass within 125 miles of the Eastern Virginia, Eastern North Carolina, Delmarva peninsula region. The VoIP Hurricane Net will activate at 4 PM EDT/2000 UTC looking for surface reports from stations in the affected area of Hurricane Earl or from Amateur Radio Operators who have contact with the affected area of Hurricane Earl through any relays or people they know in the area. In addition, an activation of the net could occur again on Friday Afternoon and Evening as Earl makes another closs pass to portions of Southeast New England.
