Tropical Storm Emily Forms in the Northeast Gulf of Mexico – Tropical Storm Warnings Issued for Portions of the Florida Coast – Monday 7/31/17 800 AM EDT Update

Tropical Storm Emily has formed west of Tampa Bay Florida this morning. Emily has maximum sustained winds of 45 MPH and is moving towards the east at 8 MPH. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Anclote River to Bonita Beach Florida. The main threat from Emily is heavy rainfall and flooding but some strong winds and severe weather is also possible from Emily. Emily is not expected to reach hurricane strength.

Since Emily is not expected to reach hurricane strength, no VoIP Hurricane Net activation is anticipated but local/regional SKYWARN groups in the path of Emily in Central Florida may activate for impacts from Emily.
