Beryl Downgraded to Tropical Depression, But Hazards Remain
As of 11:00 AM EDT, the National Hurricane Center has downgraded Beryl to a tropical depression, but notes that while all coastal watches and warnings have been dropped, hazards remain. Beryl is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 4 to 8 inches — with isolated maximum amounts of 12 inches — from northern Florida through southeastern North Carolina. Wind gusts approaching 50 mph are also possible, particularly within rainbands. Meanwhile, dangerous surf conditions, including rip currents, are expected to continue along the coast from northeastern Florida to North Carolina today.
