Hello to all….

A Recon plane went and investigated the area of disturbed weather off the coast of the Carolinas. It is not a Tropical Depression as of yet. Below is the Special Tropical Disturbance Statement from the National Hurricane Center:

SPECIAL TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENT
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
405 PM EDT WED AUG 16 2006

REPORTS FROM AN AIR FORCE RECONNAISSANCE PLANE INDICATE THAT THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CENTERED ABOUT 150 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE COASTS OF NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA IS PRODUCING MAXIMUM SUSTAINED SURFACE WINDS OF ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR IN A FEW ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. THIS SYSTEM HAS NOT YET BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION AND ADVISORIES ARE NOT BEING INITIATED AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER…THE POTENTIAL STILL EXISTS FOR THIS SYSTEM TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION AT ANY TIME DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO…BEFORE UPPER-LEVEL WINDS BECOME MORE UNFAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT ON THURSDAY.

New PHP Web Site for VoIP SKYWARN/Hurricane Net

Hello to all…

The new VoIP Hurricane/SKYWARN web site is now online and we hope those who visit enjoy the web site. The web site has been switched over to a PHP web site, which will allow for quicker updates and announcments on our activation status and allow for the posting of other announcments relating to EchoLink/IRLP and other VoIP matters for the benefit of all who want to support the net.

In the next few days, we will add information and links to general National Hurricane Center/Tropical Prediction Center products and we will then add information to tropical system products as tropical systems develop in the Atlantic and when time allows we may add information for Pacific systems as well.

The web site is a work in progress but we wanted to get the new system online before the next Atlantic tropical system affects land and we are approaching the peak of the tropical season so we can get more frequent updates on the web for supporters of our Hurricane Net. The VoIP Hurricane Net Management team hopes everyone will enjoy the new web site and as we make major additions to the web site in the coming days, we will have announcements on the main page and on the email list.

Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
