Tropical Depression (TD) 4 Forms in the Atlantic – Bears Watching for Caribbean Islands Impact Next Week

Hello to all..

Tropical Depression (TD) 4 has formed in the Atlantic about 1665 miles east of the Windward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 35 MPH. Strengthening is forecast and TD 4 is expected to become a tropical storm later today. If that happens as expected, the system will be named Danny. Its track will be to continue to move west over the next several days. It will not be a threat to land this week but could be a threat to the Caribbean Islands as we get into early next week.

Advisories on TD 4 can be seen off the Main Menu of the voipwx.net web site as well as on our social media, Facebook and Twitter feeds. The advisories can also be seen at the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will closely monitor the progress of TD 4. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!

Atlantic Tropical Outlook – Sunday 8/16/15 – 200 PM EDT

Hello to all..

At the time of the 8 PM EDT Tropical Weather Outlook Saturday Evening 8/15/15, there were no signs of tropical waves for development in the Atlantic. This changed rapidly over the last couple of Tropical Weather Outlooks on Sunday. As of the 200 PM EDT – Sunday 8/16/15 Tropical Weather Outlook, a tropical wave and surface low pressure system are producing a concentrated area of showers and thunderstorms several hundred miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands which are showing signs of organization and environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for development and a tropical depression could form by mid-week as it moves westward at 15 MPH. This system has a medium chance, 50% of development through 48 hours and a medium chance, 60% of development over the next 5 days.

The Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook can be seen off the Main Menu of the VoIP Hurricane Net web site, via the VoIPWXNet Facebook and Twitter feeds and off the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

Tropical Storm Claudette Forms in the Northern Atlantic 290 miles south-southeast of Nantucket Massachusetts

Hello to all…

Tropical Storm Claudette has formed in the Northern Atlantic about 290 miles south-southeast of Nantucket Massachusetts. Claudette has maximum sustained winds of 50 MPH. Little change in strength is expected tonight followed by weakening and a transition to a post-tropical system over the next couple of days. Advisories for Tropical Storm Claudette can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site as well as on our Facebook and Twitter feeds. Advisories can also be seen on the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov

At this time, Claudette is no threat to land and is expected to remain below hurricane strength and VoIP Hurricane Net activation appears unlikely. Nonetheless, the VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will closely monitor the progress of Claudette. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
