VoIP Hurricane Net Activation Plans for Hurricane Irma/Hurricane Katia/Hurricane Jose – 9/9/17 – 615 PM EDT/2215 UTC Listen-Only and Report Viewer Link Update

**VoIP Hurricane Net will activate from than 7 PM EDT/2300 UTC Friday Evening 9/8/17-200 AM EDT/0600 UTC Saturday Morning 9/9/17 for Hurricane Irma Impacts to Cuba and the Bahamas and for Hurricane Katia impacts to Southeast Mexico. VoIP Hurricane Net Activation for Hurricane Irma impacts as it departs Cuba and heads for the state of Florida and any impacts from Hurricane Jose for the Northern Leeward Islands will restart at 0600 AM EDT Saturday 9/9/17 likely lasting through the Monday Evening.**
**WX4NHC, the Amateur Radio Station at the National Hurricane Center, will likely be active during much of this timeframe.**

Here are the VoIP Hurricane Net Activation Plans for Hurricane Irma, Katia and Jose as of 9/8/17 at 200 AM EDT/0600 UTC:
The VoIP Hurricane Net will activate from than 7 PM EDT/2300 UTC Friday Evening 9/8/17-200 AM EDT/0600 UTC Saturday Morning 9/9/17 for Hurricane Irma Impacts to Cuba and the Bahamas and for Hurricane Katia impacts to Southeast Mexico. VoIP Hurricane Net Activation for Hurricane Irma impacts as it departs Cuba and heads for the state of Florida and any impacts from Hurricane Jose for the Northern Leeward Islands will restart at 0600 AM EDT Saturday 9/9/17 likely lasting through the Monday Evening. Hurricane Irma is a Category-V hurricane and is expected to remain a major hurricane for the next several days as it moves across the warm waters between the Bahamas and Cuba and then head into Florida and potentially Georgia and South Carolina. Also during these timeframes, Hurricane Katia is expected to make landfall Friday Night in Southeast Mexico and will be covered by the net as well as any impacts by Hurricane Jose to the Northern Leeward Islands on Saturday.
Any Amateur Radio Operators in the affected area of Irma, Katia or Jose or with relays into the affected area of Irma, Katia or Jose are asked to provide surface and damage reports into the VoIP Hurricane Net for relay into WX4NHC, the Amateur Radio station at the National Hurricane Center. Any SKYWARN Nets active in the local area as Irma moves into Florida and potentially Georgia and South Carolina that can pass reports to the VoIP Hurricane Net for relay into WX4NHC are welcome to send a net liaison or connect directly at their discretion to the *WX_TALK* Echolink conference node: 7203/IRLP 9219. Stations on All-Star can connect to the Echolink side of the system by dialing *033007203. We appreciate any and all support from Amateur Operators in the affected area or Amateur Operators with relays into the affected area. Any pictures or videos of wind damage, river/stream/urban/storm surge flooding etc. can be sent to the following email address: pics@nsradio.org and credit will be given to the Amateur Radio Operator, weather spotter or individual that took the photos and media and be shared with the Amateur Radio team at the National Hurricane Center and other agencies and outlets.

Finally, a reminder that due to the VoIP Hurricane Net activation for the various hurricanes, the weekly VoIP Hurricane Prep Net for this Saturday Evening has been cancelled. Barring another hurricane net activation near or during the weekend, the weekly net will resume Saturday September 16th, 2017.
