Tropical Storm Edouard and Atlantic Tropical Update – Saturday 9/13/14 – 200 PM EDT/1800 UTC

Hello to all..

We are approaching the peak of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Over the past few days, Tropical Storm Edouard formed in the open Atlantic with maximum sustained winds of 50 MPH. Edouard is expected to intensify into a hurricane but will remain out in the open Atlantic and a threat only to shipping interests at this time. Advisory information on Edouard can be seen off the main menu of the voipwx.net web site, via our Facebook and Twitter feeds, or at the National Hurricane Center web site via the following link:

An area of low pressure formed over the Bahamas several days ago and has tracked into the Southeast Gulf of Mexico. Upper level winds remain unfavorable for development as the system tracks westward across the Gulf of Mexico and has a low chance, 10%, of development. Shower activity with a tropical wave located southwest of the Cape Verde Islands has diminished with development unlikely as it moves either west or west-northwest at 10 MPH.

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Edouard and other developments in the Atlantic Tropics. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
