Tropical Depression (TD) #10 Becomes Tropical Storm Hermine. Hermine is the 8th named system of the 2010 Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico Hurricane Season. Hermine is expected to strengthen to a 50 Knot/60 MPH Tropical Stom before making landfall somewhere over the Northeast Mexico/South Texas coast line and the model guidance has shifted northward so a Tropical Storm Warning is now in effect for the coast of Mexico from Tampico to the mouth of the Rio Grande and from the mouth of the Rio Grande to Baffin Bay Texas. Additional watches or warnings could be required for portions of South Texas later today. Hermine is expected to make landfall without becoming a hurricane but this will need close monitoring since the environment is favorable for strengthening and if Hermine spends more time over water than currently forecast, she might have an opportunity to become a hurricane.
