Atlantic Tropical Update – Saturday 10/19/24 – 925 AM EDT

Hello to all…

Here is an Atlantic Tropical Update for Saturday 10/19/24 at 925 AM EDT:

Tropical Storm Nadine has formed in the Western Caribbean Sea and will be making landfall in Belize as a tropical storm later today. Nadine will cause flooding from heavy rainfall and some wind damage with some coastal storm surge flooding in portions of Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Nadine will not reach hurricane strength so VoIP Hurricane Net Activation is not anticipated. We will continue to monitor the progress of Nadine. Advisories on Nadine can be seen on the voipwx.net web site under Atlantic Tropical Products via our Facebook and X feeds and via the NHC web site at the following link:

https://www.nhc.noaa.gov

A low pressure system 100 miles east of the Turks and Caicos Islands now has a 90% chance of development into a tropical depression or tropical storm and advisories could be initiated as soon as later today. This system will be monitored closely over the next few days.

The VoIP Hurricane Net management team will closely monitor development in the Atlantic Tropics and will update these systems tonight at 8 PM EDT on the VoIP Hurricane Prep Net. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
