Tropical Storm Erin Becomes Hurricane Erin – Friday 8/15/25 1100 AM EDT/1500 UTC Update

Hello to all…

Tropical Storm Erin is now Hurricane Erin. Erin may impact portions of the Northern Leeward Islands, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with tropical storm force winds sustained or in gusts but the core of the hurricane is expected to remain offshore of those islands so no VoIP Hurricane net activation is expected at this time for this area. From there, Erin’s track could potentially either be between the US East Coast and Bermuda with no impact to land, closer to the US East Coast with some land impact, or closer to Bermuda with some impact. Track guidance will become more clear over the weekend on Erin’s track which will then dictate if there is a need for a VoIP Hurricane Net activation. Erin is expected to become a powerful major hurricane in the Atlantic over the weekend regardless of the track. Advisories on Erin can be found on the VoIP Hurricane Net web site under Atlantic Tropical Products, via our voipwx.net Facebook/X feeds and via the NHC web site at the following link:

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will continue to monitor Erin and any other systems in the Tropics. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
