Tropical Storm Erin Forms in the Atlantic – No Threat to Land in the Next 5 Days – Will Continue to Monitor

Hello to all…

Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the Atlantic near the Cabo Verde Islands. Erin will slowly intensify over the next couple of days before undergoing more significant intensification in the 3-5 day period. Erin is expected to reach hurricane status later this week and major hurricane status in about 5 days or so. Erin’s current track is currently expected to be over the open ocean waters of the Atlantic over the 5-day period so no VoIP Hurricane Net activation is expected in this timeframe currently. Thereafter, it is extremely uncertain whether the track will be out to sea not affecting land, potential impacts to Bermuda and/or the Canadian Maritimes or to areas of the US East Coast. We won’t have those details until later this week or this weekend at the earliest. Advisories on Erin can be found on the VoIP Hurricane Net web site under Atlantic Tropical Products, via our voipwx.net Facebook/X feeds and via the NHC web site at the following link:

The VoIP Hurricane Net Management Team will continue to monitor Erin and any other systems in the Tropics. Thanks to all for their continued support of the VoIP Hurricane Net!
