Tropical Storm Ernesto Forms in the Atlantic – Monday 8/12/24 – 545 PM EDT/2145 UTC Update
Hello to all…
Tropical Storm Erneseto has formed in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Warnings are posted for portions of the Caribbean Islands including the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. At this time, Ernesto is expected to be below hurricane strength as it affects the islands and as it turns northwest and northward away from the islands, Ernesto will strengthen into a hurricane. Given this forecast scenario, VoIP Hurricane Net activation is not expected as it affects the islands but the VoIP Hurricane Net Management team will closely monitor Ernesto’s progress in case he intensifies into a hurricane sooner. There is also a possible hurricane impact to the island of Bermuda as we get towards this weekend that will bear watching for possible VoIP Hurricane Net Activation. This will be updated as we get closer to this weekend. Advisories on Ernesto can be seen of the main menu of the voipwx.net web site under Atlantic Tropical Products, via our voipwxnet Facebook and Twitter feeds or directly via the National Hurricane Center web site at the following link:
The VoIP Hurricane Net will closely monitor the progress of Ernesto and any new developments in the Tropics. Thanks to all for their continued support for the VoIP Hurricane Net!
