Note that just connecting to the Weather Talk Conference Server or an IRLP node (either directly or through a repeater) does NOT qualify as a checkin to the net. You must be acknowledged by Net Control either via voice, or textbox, to get on the log.
If you are not acknowledged, your voice or textbox checkin did NOT get through, and you will have to recheck. Also, all callsigns will be VERIFIED before posting to the log. If the call is found to be invalid, that station will NOT be logged.

A few other notes:
1) The net is in its final month of weekly nets, at 8pm Eastern, 7pm Central, 6pm Mountain, 5pm Pacific Time, 0000 UTC. Come December, the net will meet the first Saturday of the month ONLY, until hurricane season resumes in June, 2015.
On some nets where there is no training presentation, a question will be asked of Net Participants for their comments when they check in with their comments. There was no question/comment of the week for tonight.
2) The 2014 Skywarn Recognition Day is set from 0000 to 2400 UTC Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014. This equates to 7pm EST Friday, Dec. 5, to 7pm EST, Saturday, Dec. 6. More information is in the Yahoo Groups post, and at http colon slash slash www dot wrh dot noaa dot gov slash mtr slash hamradio — on that day, the net time will be ONE HOUR EARLIER…at 7pm Eastern, 6pm Central, 5pm Mountain, and 4pm Pacific Time.
Also, time wise, much of the U.S. will return to STANDARD TIME at 2am local time Sunday morning, Nov. 2, 2014. The net start time will NOT change, EXCEPT the UTC start time, and the Net Start Time in Arizona will be ONE HOUR LATER.
3) Several items for stations to note:
a) Stations are not permitted to connect with conference mode enabled. If they do so, the node will immediately disconnect them.
b) During the nets with Training Presentations, comments will be taken from VoIP WX Net Management Only. All other checkins, voice and textbox will be callsign ONLY. This is done in the interest of time for the training presentation…although net participants may ask questions or make comments after the training presentation. Training Presentations may resume in January, 2015. Watch the Yahoo Group and Facebook Page for updates.
c) It is appreciated if stations use ITU Phoenetics when checking into the net, so Net Control can copy their callsigns correctly…especially if their signal is “noisy”.
4) An Online Skywarn Spotter Training Course is available if your area National Weather Service (NWS) Office is not currently offering Skywarn Storm Spotter Training classes. The course takes approximately 2 hours to complete, and helpful links are on this page. This course link is accepted by most NWS Offices, in lieu of attending an “in person” class. Type in “Online Storm Spotter Training Course” in your favorite search engine, and look for the words MetEd in the link, then click on it for more information.

6) For those who have D-Star capabilities, the Southeast US D-Star Weather Net meets every Sunday night at 9pm Eastern, 8pm Central, 7pm Mountain, 6pm Pacific. John, WB4QDX, heads up the operation of this net, with several net controls.
The southeast states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas are taken FIRST…then other states approximately 30-45 minutes after the net begins.
