StormStudy Program Participates in the 2007 National Hurricane Conference
The Storm Study program led by John Van Pelt-K4JVP, longtime VoIP Hurricane Net Activation participant, and Danny Musten-KD4RAA, IRLP 9219 Net Manager and StormStudy partner, participated in the 2007 National Hurricane Conference. At the conference, they spoke about preparedness with the media and local agencies, promoted the VoIP Hurricane Net and went to the many forums that can be seen at the conference.
John Van Pelt-K4JVP did many interviews and advertisements on preparedness at the conference. One of the conference main themes is on preparedness. John provided his experiences on what he has seen in past major hurricanes as he witnessed first hand, the awesome power of hurricanes.
Danny Musten-KD4RAA met with the local Red Cross Communications Officer and saw the Amateur Radio Forum at the conference. Louisiana ARES Section Emergency Coordinator, Gary Stratton-K5GLS, spoke on what ARES did during Hurricane Katrina with ARRL national representative Steve Ewald-WV1X chairing the forum.
